This week Spotify had 58 songs on their "New Music Friday" playlist. I listened to all 58 songs and chose 10 songs that stood out most. These are in no particular order.
Kings of Leon- "WALLS"
"WALLS" is Kings of Leon's title track for their upcoming album which comes out October 14. This song is slow and gentle. Kings of Leon also released a video to this song that is definitely worth the watch.
Skott has a unique, enticing voice which makes this song so great. Skott is a Scandinavian Singer/Songwriter who released her debut single "Porcelain" just a few months ago. Be on the lookout for Skott as her career beings to open up.
GRiZ- "Gotta Push On" (Ft. Brasstracks & Eric Krasno)
GRiZ released his album "Good Will Prevail" today. "Gotta Push On" is slower, but still groovy as GRiZ adds his feel-good sounding sax to the track. This song is just one of 12 more on the album packed with diverse features and songs.
Tuvaband- "(It's not about) Running"
Tuvaband is a singer/songwriter that I am not familiar with, but this song is amazing. She has a dreamy voice that reverberates throughout a relaxing beat. This is a really relaxing, emotional song that is probably best listened to alone.
Danny Brown has a really unique voice and flow, so it takes a while to get used to him, but once you do you'll realize how great this song is. Kendrick kills it as usual. Just take a listen!
Foreign Air- "Better for It"
Foreign Air released their EP "For the Light" today. They are similar to Glass Animals in their style. "Free Animal" is another great song off this new EP.
Passenger- "If You Go"
Passenger released his album "Young as the Morning Old as the Sea" today. I am a huge Passenger fan, and I can't wait to go listen to every song on this album once I finish writing this. He is a great lyricist and knows how to make good music.
Bloc Party- "Stunt Queen"
Bloc Party released "Stunt Queen" on Wednesday. Kele Okereke has one of the most captivating voices. No one makes me wish I had a British accent more than him. This is a nice catchy tune.
The Last Bandoleros- "I Don't Want To Know"
The Last Bandoleros released their EP "The Last Bandoleros -EP" Wednesday. This band is new to me, but this song, "I Don't Want To Know" is really great. It sounds like something that could have been used in "Breaking Bad" or "Narcos" or "True Detective." This song came out a whole ago, but it is not well known... yet.
Although this song was not in Spotify's "New Music Friday" playlist, I believe it is worthy of recognition. Lido dropped a new single the other day called "Murder." It is classic Lido with an intricate beat and incredible sounds.
